With such a catchy title, I’m sure to get you attention ;)
During the 2nd week-end, we do the first teaching practice. In pairs, we have to alternatively be the teacher and the student. Mats set close, teacher is on the right one to be easily seen by the student.
During 25 minutes top, the teacher has to go through the Sun Salutation A & B, 3 times each before moving on the Standing sequence.
This first experience was really great.
In addition to demonstrate the asanas, you have to say the correct breathing (inhale/exhale) while finding the most accurate words to create the flow.
Of course for the first teaching practice, doing all these actions at the same time, is incredibly difficult. Time flies and words don’t go out of your mouth as thought!
Our course teacher, Jess (#shakeyourbuddhi), gaves us a key rule :
KISS : Keep It Simple Stupid
Or Say as you do and do as you say
With a maxim of 3 things per asana
These are advices to help new teachers. With practice and experience, this will evolve and be much more fluid and enhanced.
But to start, just KISS.
